Momar Yusef Clemons is an Atlanta-based multidisciplinary artist whose paintings construct immersive, theatrical worlds where time collapses into past, present, and speculative future. Framed by ornate, Baroque-inspired borders that function as memory containers and heirloom architectures, his compositions operate as portals—staging encounters between ancestral memory and imagined destiny.
Rooted in Afrofuturism and magical realism, Clemons activates a spectrum of folkloric archetypes—including the Hero, the Mentor, the Trickster, and the Shadow—as shifting psychological and cultural forces. His expansive environments, influenced by the Hudson River School’s engagement with light and the sublime, amplify the emotional and mythic scale of his figures.
Through non-linear storytelling and layered figuration, Clemons stages Black presence within immersive environments where history, myth, and futurity converge.
